Dubai RTA Driving Licence Renewal: Timelines, Validity and Age Rules

Dubai driving licence holders can renew their RTA-issued licence before it expires, with the renewal window and new validity based on age. Drivers aged 21 and above may renew up to six months before expiry, while those under 21 can renew up to three months before. After renewal, UAE/GCC citizens aged 21 and above get a 10-year licence, UAE residents aged 21 and above get a five-year licence, and drivers under 21 receive a one-year licence. The RTA says the new renewal date is calculated from the date the renewal application is submitted, not the previous expiry date.
