Forbes Cyprus Summit: AI enters banking, but not without control
At the Forbes Cyprus Next Gen Banking Fintech Summit held on Tuesday at the Four Seasons hotel in Limassol, the panel «AI and the Reinvention of Mainstream Banking» examined how artificial intelligence lets banks predict customer needs, offer more personalised services and simplify their procedures. The four speakers — Bank of Cyprus Chief Digital Officer Dimitris Nikolaou, UBS Managing Director Laurent Rosfelder, Eurobank General Manager of Retail Banking Andreas Assiotis and University of Cyprus professor Constantinos Dovrolis — stressed that data protection, customer trust and preserving human judgement remain decisive. The discussion was moderated by Christoforos Anayiotos, a board member of KPMG. For residents on the island, the debate signals that AI-driven tools in Cypriot banking will be paired with data-protection and human-oversight safeguards.
