Cyprus inflation at 5.2% in September 2026 as energy prices jump 20.2%
Cyprus' annual harmonised inflation reached 5.2% in September 2026, according to the Statistical Service. Energy prices rose 20.2% year on year, with the largest increases recorded in transport, restaurants and accommodation, and housing and utility bills. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) nonetheless fell 0.4% compared with August 2026, while for the January–September period it was up 3.2% on the same nine months of 2025. The biggest decline came in clothing and footwear, down 10.4%, followed by information and communication, down 0.9%.
Energy is the main source of pressure on household budgets: an annual rise of 20.2% means electricity and fuel costs remain far above last year's level, and the 0.4% monthly fall in the index offers only marginal relief.
