Median pay in Cyprus rises 3.8% to €1,953, average reaches €2,591
Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) reports that median gross monthly earnings of employees rose 3.8 per cent to €1,953 in 2025, up from €1,881 in 2024. Average gross monthly earnings increased 4.3 per cent to €2,591 from €2,483, leaving a €638 gap that puts the average roughly 33 per cent above the median. Almost one in four workers earns less than €1,500 a month, and foreign workers are more likely to be found in both the lowest and the highest pay brackets. Cystat notes the median marks the midpoint of the earnings distribution, while the average can be pulled upwards by a small number of very high salaries.
Since half of employees earn less than €1,953 gross a month, the median rather than the €2,591 average is the realistic benchmark when judging or negotiating a salary in Cyprus.
