Transport, housing, energy and fuel drive sharpest price rises as inflation hits 3.69%
Prices across several essential categories have risen over the past four years, with the sharpest annual increases in transport, housing, energy and fuel, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service. The Consumer Price Index rose at an annual rate of 4.02% in September 2023, slowed to 0.69% in September 2024, and fell 0.65% year-on-year in September 2025, before returning to 3.69% this September. Pressure extends beyond goods to services, with education and dining out continuing to rise and healthcare costs climbing steadily. Only clothing and footwear, furniture and household equipment, and information and communication recorded price declines.
With inflation back at 3.69%, purchasing power keeps eroding and the relief is limited to clothing, furniture and communications, so household budgets should assume continued pressure from transport, housing, energy and healthcare.
