Cyprus robotics champions eye South Korea after ninth Robotex Cyprus triumph
The Cyprus Computer Society organised the Robotex Cyprus 2026 awards ceremony this week, hosted by the Bank of Cyprus, honouring the winners of the ninth Robotex Cyprus Educational and Sports Robotics Competition, held last June under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy. The event was addressed by Pampos Christodoulou, the newly appointed president of the Cyprus Youth Organisation (Onek), a co-organiser, and by Stavri Ttofa, acting director general of the Deputy Ministry, on behalf of the Deputy Minister. Before the ceremony, children and families used an AI Photobooth and took part in the JOEY Memory Game and Rubik's Cube competitions offered by the Bank of Cyprus, with winners announced by Elli Ioannidou, the bank's corporate social responsibility director.
The robotics competition is a recurring route for schoolchildren on the island, and its ninth edition has now closed with the winners looking towards international events such as those in South Korea.
